Jeremiah 29:11
Happy Monday!
I hope you had a weekend full of being refreshed and refreshing others! This summer has been a lot of preparation and waiting for me as I pursue an angel investor for my book launch and academy. So I was especially thankful to get to spend unexpected time with a friend and client… She admonished me to use my unexpected free time for self care and she was right! I went for a long walk at Cheekwood Historic House and Garden here in Nashville- it’s been on my bucket list since we moved back to the area two years ago!
As I walked and processed some heavy things, my heart and mind were troubled.
Sunday morning, I studied with our 22 year old son. (Our family is praying about starting a church but it hasn’t happened yet.) We studied some amazing hymns together. Martin Luther had a way with words and I’ve never really looked into his songs. They were full of meaning and lifted the heart.
But I was still troubled. I shared with our son, who is a scholar of the Bible and church history. He helped me sort through a pretty major issue related to the book I’m writing about healing from sexual abuse and assault.
We spent the rest of Sunday counseling others in the ways of the Lord.
I’m not supposed to be at home this week. I’m supposed to be with my husband doing our angel investor job as over-the-road truck drivers but here I am!
My plan for the day and the week is again tied to the four pillars that God calls each of us to develop: our faith, our fitness, our finances, our family & friendships…
My standard for growing in faith is to spend an hour a day in the Bible and let me just confess- last week was not even close to that! But this morning, my heart has been so deeply encouraged by the Psalms.
Psalms 17-33 took me about an hour to read… It was worth it and here’s why:
Whether you’re the survivor of sexual trauma or not, you need to know the following:
God sees you
God hears you
God is for you
God will show you mercy
God expects you to live his way
God expects you to live in integrity
When you repent and live his way, he will ALWAYS show you mercy
He will protect you from all
enemies!
He will be your safe place!
He will be your guide!
Have your parents abandoned you?
God won’t.
Are you worried about finances?
It’s all his!
Don’t know what to do?
His counsel stands forever!
It is our faith that is the rock we must build our lives upon!
Whatever your weekend was or wasn’t, whatever your week looks like, take comfort in the Lord and his word and he will lift you up!!! (Psalm 33:11 and James 4:10)
