Jeremiah 29:11
Trigger warning
It’s a statistical fact that most sexual assaults/rapes happen in the Fall.
Here’s what to do if it happened to you or someone you know:
Remember these 3 things or “RRW”
💼 Rape kit- get to an ER and ask for one immediately
☎️ Report it- call the police to report the crime
✍️ Write it down- record from beginning to end what happened, where, if you knew the criminal, and if you don’t know him, what he looked like.
Please be aware and share the following in the event someone you know is assaulted.
Below are more detailed instructions which have been summarized in the RRW acronym!
Remeber:
Rape kit- get one at an ER
Report it: Call the police and report the crime ASAP
Write it down! Or have someone write it for you or record into your phone. The police will need this information to help bring justice.
1. Immediately go to a hospital emergency room.
2. Tell the ER staff you need a rape kit
3. Tell the ER staff you need to report a rape to the police
4. Tell a friend or write or record exactly what happened and everything you remember about the assault.
5. Give the report to law enforcement.
6. Have a friend or family member stay with you for at least a day or two after the event. Do whatever you need to do to feel normal again.
7. Learn about Rape Trauma Syndrome and follow the guide to recovery. This guide is what my next book is all about. Email me me at Katie@KatieSpeaking.com to be notified when the book comes out!
Be safe!
Prevention is the best action you can take to ensure you and those you love stay safe!
*This was written while doing research for my book about how I recovered from kidnapping/rape as well as recovering from molestation and invest.
There is zero information about these simple
three steps to immediately respond to rape. Please share this information. Justice must be served and it starts with reporting.
please reach out to me if you have any questions or would like for me to come speak to your group or organization about rape recovery And prevention!
